Consistent Global Checkpoints for Distributed Applications on Clusters of Workstations.
Process migration and checkpointing offer the possibility to achieve
load balancing and fault tolerance. We give an overview of the design
of our "PBeam" system and focus on its facility for creating global
consistent checkpoints of groups of communicating processes on
networked Unix systems. We present first experiences with our
implementation.me space is critical for the
performance of the entire system.
