General InformationVenueThe ISoLA 2008 symposium will take place in the beautiful peninsula of Chalkidiki, in the Porto Sani Resort. Participants may take advantage of the special rates the conference has secured for accommodation in the hotel. An on-line reservation form will become available in June. Travelling to ISoLAThe International Airport of Thessaloniki is the second largest in Greece. It is situated only 10 KM away from the city. It is served by all the major airlines (Lufthansa, BA, KLM, Air France) and from all the major European hubs on a a daily basis. Low-cost airlines like EasyJet and Germanwings connect it on a frequent basis to many additional locations in Europe. Transfers to the conference site will be arranged from/to it. Your flight number will be requested in the registration form. Transfers will be by either bus, minibus or taxi. Of course you can also rent a car and drive to the conference location, and to sightsee the rest of beautiful Chalkidiki. Various international car rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Sixt, Thrifty) and a number of local companies are represented at the airport. Private taxis are also available 24 hours.
The local organizers can organize transportation for you from/to the Thessaloniki airport. Please book it at registration time (there are corresponding boxes on the registration form). The cost of a taxi ride one way is 75 Euro. The ride can be shared by up to 3 passengers. (this means that if you are arriving with up to 2 colleagues, only one of you needs to book the taxi). Visas Greece is part of the European Union and adheres to the Schengen Treaty. Please visit the site of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out whether a visa is required for your country, and how to obtain it. Letters of invitations for the registered participants can be issued by the conference General Chair.
