Professor Sukanya Bhowmik Sukanya Bhowmik
Sukanya Bhowmik received her Master of Science degree in Information Technology at the University of Stuttgart, Germany in 2013. She went on to pursue her doctoral studies at the Institute of Parallel and Distributed Systems of University of Stuttgart and received her doctoral degree in 2017. The title of her doctoral dissertation is ‘Content-Based Routing in Software-Defined Networks’. On completion of her Ph.D., she continued as a postdoctoral researcher in the Distributed Systems Department and lead the Adaptive Communication Systems research group.
Since 2023, she is a professor at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Potsdam, heading the Chair of Middleware, Operating Systems, and Computer Networks.

Philipp Ungrund Philipp Ungrund
Philipp Ungrund studied Industrial Engineering & Management at the University of Twente, which he finished with a Bachelor of Science in 2021. After that he pursued a Master‘s degree in Computational Science at the University of Potsdam with a thesis on intrusion prevention in high-performance computer networks at the chair of Operating Systems and Distributed Systems. In September 2024 he started as a research fellow at the chair of Middleware, Operating Systems, and Computer Networks.

External Researchers

Max Engelhardt Max Engelhardt
Max Engelhardt received his Master of Education degree at the University of Potsdam, Germany in 2023. In early 2024, he joined Prof. Bhowmik’s Middleware, Operating Systems, and Computer Networks group at the University of Potsdam. Since October 2025, he has been working there as an external researcher. He is currently working on our project on Middleware for Decentralized Learning.



Student staff

Olaf Link Olaf Link
Olaf Link has been a bachelor student of Computer Science at the University of Potsdam since 2022. In 2024, he was invited by Prof. Bhowmik to join her team as a research assistant, where he is currently developing a test environment for distributed algorithms in Complex Event Processing applications.

Alexander Hacke Alexander Hacke
Alexander Hacke trained as an IT specialist and has been supporting teaching and research at the Institute of Informatics and Computational Science since 2015.






Office

Alexandra Roy Alexandra Roy
Alexandra Roy completed her vocational training as an office administrator at the University of Potsdam and was subsequently employed at the Institute of Geosciences. She has been working at the Institute of Informatics and Computational Science since 2009.
